"How is everyone able to move forward?"

I was diagnosed with genital herpes late December. (had my first outbreak start on christmas.. UGH!)I was devastated. My boyfriend claimed he didn't know he had it, which could be true. Either way I have it now and it sticks in my mind no matter what I do.
I recently had an outbreak on my bottom lip, so now I'm positive i had BOTH herpes (oral & genital)
I love this discussion board because it reminds me i'm not alone, which is how i feel 99% of the time.
How was everyone able to accept this and move on? I feel stuck and in the same place i was the day I found out I had it.. does it just take time? I'm terrified to date again because I dread "that conversation" that we all have to have at some point or another.
What do i need to do to get over this and just accept myself?
I just keep telling myself, "I don't want this! I don't deserve this! Why me? Why is he able to have this dormant in his body and i'm stuck with horrific outbreaks?"

You are very far from being alone, which in my opinion is the absolute most valuable thing about this site, letting folks know that they are not alone. This is still pretty new for you. One thing to remember is that you are still the same wonderful person you were before you knew about herpes.

Telling a new potential partner is one of the big dreads about herpes. The first time I told, it was kind of awkward for me, but after that first time, I was just very up front about it fairly early on and nobody ran away.
