Were you having symptoms before you got diagnosed? Did they do a type specific blood test? If not you need to ask for one.

Outbreaks differ for everyone. Mine are very very mild. I don't notice them. If you take antivirals, they can surpress outbreaks and decrease transmission.

Your life is not over. My husband had herpes and I didn't. We got married. I eventually got it because he was misdiagnosed for so many years and due to that we didn't take proper precautions.

Believe me you are not alone in this and are not dirty or unloveable.

Christine

thank you for your kind words... I did't have symptoms, i when in for a yearly physical , and my blood work came out saying so... and I went for a second opinion , and same result... I'm trying my best to come into terms with this pest... I just hope it won't be so painful when I do have an outbreak ...

You might NEVER get an outbreak. Some people are totally asymptomatic. Some people get a little genital irritation like a paper cut that they don't even realize is herpes. I've had it for over 30 years and it's never been incredibly painful........itchy and annoying, but generally pretty easy to ignore.

It is also a very good idea for you to post your test results so we can interpret them for you and be sure that you had the correct testing done.

Take some time and read the herpes handbook (link on the main page). Even without outbreaks, there is still a possibility of passing this on to a partner. Taking antivirals and using condoms will decrease that risk.

Get Valtrex from the doctor it will lessen the symptoms and an ointment.
I dont remember what it is called.
If you are like me and dont have the moeny. treat it like the flu. Take vitamins use ice, and neosporin, this is what I have to do.
Im sorry ): I feel your pain

If you are asymptomatic, which looks like you may be.. that's great! I'll give you some personal experience when I had my first outbreak. My first outbreak.. I won't lie.. was VERY painful. The doctors didn't know what I had at the time and they never did any STD testing, so I went many days with this. One thing I will tell you though, which saved me was lidocaine jelly I was prescribed once they kind of had a sense of what I had. It partially numbs the pain from the sores and the relief is almost instant. I do believe you can get an off-the counter jelly as well, but check with your doctor first before using. Some may not be approved for the genital area. Any outbreaks I've had since are a fraction of my first. I hardly know it's there, and outbreaks also decrease with time. I hope my experience helps you out!

The good news is that if this came up from your yearly then your symptoms MAY be very minimal if noticeable at all.
If they do come back positive, please promise you will take precautions with future partners even if you have zero symptoms. The thing is the person that gets this passed onto them may have much worse, life long symptoms, which is my case. My wife passed it on to me and she has zero symptoms and I can barely walk four times a year because of severe nerve pain on the base of my feet.

So....not trying to be a deliverer of bad news, however if you do carry the virus, you will need to change your life style and think of the impact even if you have no symptoms (and if that is the case I am truly, honestly happy for you)

Not a life choice of things to deal with but it is no death sentence either. Just learn, read and adapt and most of all keep your self worth very high. You didn't ask for this.

Best of luck and enjoy the summer!
MC

I got my first break out almost 2 weeks ago, the pain was hell. Traumatizing almost. I could barely walk, it hurt to pee, I couldn't sleep because the pain was so bad. I would litteraly just sit and cry for hours. I also felt alone, dirty and unloveable. I was washing my hands like every 15 minutes, so much that we're raw after the 3rd day.

What I found, thanks to this site, is dermoplast, in the blue can is AMAZING!! It doesn't sting at all when you apply it, like everything else that I tried did. It instantly numbed and I felt great. Another great trick is ice bags or frozen peas. It was the only thing that would help me sleep. I kept a bag in my panties pretty much all the time for the first week.

It gets better, it's web two weeks and my break out is essentially over, no more blisters, no more pain, no more itching, just a couple little scabbies waiting to fall off you'll be fine, if you ever do get a breakout, and there are so many people on this site willing to help and offer advice. It is such a blessing to not feel so alone.

Good luck
