"new to forum"
Hello, Im new to the forum and I have genital herpes. I haven't told anyone about it. I got it from my ex boyfriend who lied to me about having any std's I wish he would have been honest with me so that I could have taken proper precautions when engaging in sex with him. Well now we are broken up, its been about a year and a half and Im interested in someone else. This new fellow has been a friend for a long time. I know I have to tell him at some point if I am going to continue to peruse him. But Im really scared. What if he tells all of our friends or what if he doesn't want to be friends with me anymore? I also just recently went to the Dr. And got acyclovir but have not started taking it yet. I've read about some side effects and some of them are quite scary. This past month my outbreaks have been so frequent and I think it has a lot to do with stress pertaining to this new potential partner. So I guess my questions are...how effective is the treatment? Are the side effects really as scary as they seem? What are the chances of me transmitting herpes to this guy if I use acyclovir? How well do condoms work with herpes if the female has the virus?
