"newbie. help!!!"

   Okay guys so here is my story;

I was diagnosed in 2010, I had a hard time coping with it due to I never had any issues "down there". The doctor I saw was awful, not wiling to answer any questions, handed me a pamphlet and walked out. As I sat the crying, I decided to tell that b**** to fu** off and sought another Doctor. Doctor #2 helped a bit, told me hsv2 test was greater than 5.0 but couldn't give me a specific number. He also said if I hadn't had a BO by that time then I probably would be fortunate and never have one. I was happy in thinking I might not have to deal with that aspect. Here it is a few years later still no symptoms. Until now... Maybe... I woke up yesterday with a sore sore vagina, I chalked it up to rough sex with the hubs. Then today stated the itching, really itching. I was convinced yeast infection! Went the the store bought some antifungal, and wahla! Tonight I got to looking in the mirror (never really looked inside) I was shocked. Super swollen and possible bumps. The reason I'm not sure is one never looking there, and two it's so inflamed. I hear a lot of women say their OB is on the bikini area.. Not inside. Is it possible, or am I overacting and it's just a yeast infection? I don't feel ill or flu like. I keep doing what seems pointless research since it's the same generic information. I want to hear some personal exp.

Oh and absolutely nobody knows, so it's constantly weighing on my mind. I feel like I'm being eaten alive.

   Posting in the Support section gets more traffic so you may wish to post there to get quicker responses.

How were you diagnosed all those years ago--a blood test or were you having an outbreak and had a swab/culture done?

You may want to see a professional to find out for sure what is going on with you now. You could have yeast, BV, strep b going on AND a HSV outbreak at the same time. Having anything else going on during a HSV OB can cause the OB to linger so you need to be treated for everything so that the HSV OB will clear up if what you are having is indeed an OB. Only a professional can diagnose you in person as you cannot be diagnosed on the internet.

If any HSV testing is done, make sure it is typed.

   Yes I had a blood test done, not sure why though I was in a prenatal appointment. It was a type specific test. Results were greater than 5.0. Ive never got a copy of the results. I looked again todY and didnt see anything but inflammation, I'm so confused and at this point I don't want to go to a doctor.

   That doesn't sound like a typical herpes presentation, more like a yeast or bacterial infection. Herpes usually causes a small cluster of blisters or a paper cut like sore or a small area of irritation. It's possible to get internal outbreaks, but my impression is that it's much less common.

The majority of people who test positive for HSV2 are asymptomatic, so it's nothing unusual that you haven't had symptoms. Just because you have tested positive doesn't mean everything in your genital area is going to be related to herpes. Unfortunately you aren't going to be able to figure out what is going on without seeing a doctor.
