"I have wonderful news!"

   Hi everyone!!!!

Just wanted to let you all know that last Sunday, April 29 my gorgeous baby boy was born! He weighed 9lbs and is doing wonderfully. I'm so happy. I had a vaginal birth, and was taking 1500mg of valacyclovir daily. The nether areas are a disaster! I tore pretty badly (i guess not surprising considerin ghe was nine pounds!), but I 'm starting to get back on my feet.

One question in terms of the herpes: am I out of the woods? How late after birth could a problems show up possibly related to herpes?

Take care everyone, and thanks for all you support throughout my pregnancy!!

CG

Oh congratulations!!!!!! That is wonderful news and what a BIG baby. I am pretty sure that if he's fine now, that means he's fine, but maybe Grace will chime in to confirm that.

Enjoy your baby. They get big so quickly.

congrats!!!

usually symptoms occur within the first 2 weeks after birth - fever and lethargy are the most common ( sleeping a lot more than usually and not as perky as usual ). Really no good reason to worry that you transmitted it though

best of luck healing - tucks and dermoplast along with epsom salt baths help Also don't forget the stool softeners too!! gotta love being female eh?

I missed this. HOW VERY EXCITING. Yup, tearing with a kid that size is certainly more than likely. If you had an epidural, that could also increase your odds for tearing more badly. However, that will heal!!!

Grace already covered the HSV questions. Sounds like it is time to enjoy your baby.

Be well,

   Hey there,

Thanks everyone! Things are going really well. He's gaining weight well and we're having a great time.

Thanks for all your well-wishes.

CG

PS. I didn't have an epidural. I actually didn't have any drugs at all. In hindsight, if I'd known he was going to so big, maybe I would have lol!!!!!
