I'm not sure about the sterility matter. I would think it wouldn't lead to you being sterile but it's worth asking a doc, as it's probably not comfortable to live with a yeast infection for more than a week or so. Though I am a woman, I have had QUITE a few yeast infections, and I think for men the symptoms are similar.. (general burning sensation- not just in one spot, itchiness, redness and dryness, even sores maybe)...also, if you don't treat it, I think it's possible to develop a 'mutated' yeast infection that is harder to treat. So get into the doc!

It probably wouldn't lead to sterility, but it can lead to some problems, like being resistant to treatment, as GG said.

Why isn't the guy treating it? I'd imagine he has to be pretty uncomfortable.

Symptoms can be red irritated skin, or patches of raw skin, maybe blisters, itching, etc.

I've had it when I was married to my first wife. She was always prone to yeast infections and I'd often get them, too, transmitted sexually.

The over the counter anitfungal ointments work ok, but the prescription ones are better and get results a lot faster. Nystatin is a good Rx one, as is Mycolog. I can't imagine not treating it as I always found it very uncomfortable. I can't think that, as AJ said, it would result in sterility, but also think you should be getting it treated right away.

Since this has been going on so long, why not just get it checked by a doc??
