"Worried - Need some advice"

I am 27 years old and for 6 weeks I've been feeling really sick. I've had nasty tummy pains (it can really hurt or be a dull pain) I've been feeling sick, had a fever, headaches and sleeping alot. I am also finding it hard to go to the toilet, but now theres some blood when I try. Not much and it hurts and itchs. I've seen my doctor twice, first time it was a bug and second time he set up a blood test (which I had yesterday) and a scan (Not sure when its gonna happen) I am worried theres something really wrong. When I do go to the toliet, it's not much. Can anyone help me out here??!

Hi there -

I'm sorry you are feeling so badly.

This could be anything from being chronically dehydrated to a blockage in your colon (assuming you mean pooping when you say "go to the toilet"). If you mean peeing, then you might have a urinary tract infection.

Just stay on the doc and make sure they schedule the scan sooner rather than later.

Even if its a blockage, you are ok as long as something is coming out. You might have to have some nasty procedures done, but you'll feel better for it after.

   Thanks for ur post.

I can go to the toliet (pooing) but it takes ages and it does happen, but its hurt like hell! I am in pain there, feels lumpy, itchs and bleeds a bit too. I have called up a family member and she told me it might be piles but I should know if theres anything wrong with my blood test results. I am scared but I've not felt any lumps on tummy or whatever....I just want it to end u know. I am fed up with being sick.

Also can I ask, if you're on ur period (mine was 2 week late this month) and when u bleed can it go to the back passage? I didnt bleed before it started but I am just worried about that too.

No, you wouldn't have your period rectally.

The bleeding, if its light and bright red, could be from hemmoroids. You can get those from straining. If its a darker blood, something that would look like old blood, you should let your doc know that.

I don't know what piles is, but when do your scan results come back? Have you had a colonoscopy? That might be next.

I believe piles is another term for hemmorhoids.

Red blood is probably hemmies, or piles. I know its hard, but try not to overly worry, ok?

Hang in there, and let us know what the doc says.

I called up the doc and all my tests were normal. I guess that means blood count was normal and I am not sick with anything bad? I will keep an eye on everything and see what happens. Maybe give it a few weeks and see how it feels still

It does sound more like hemorrhoids than anything "bad." You might have had a bug of some sort, and the added pressure down there may have caused the piles (so much easier to spell). If you look at the post below yours, there are some great tips for helping relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids, which could give you some relief if it continues.

I'm glad everything from the blood tests were returned as normal.

If your blood count and ct scan were normal, this is probably hemorrhoids. your doctor should be able to take a look and tell you. The abdominal pain is probably from constipation, which is also contributing to hemorrhoids. You can try a stool softener, increasing fiber in your diet, and increasing the water you drink each day. Prunes or other dried fruit are good to try.

Well my doc told me my blood tests were normal, good sign. I am slowly getting better and the pain around the area isnt that bad anymore. I will keep an eye on it anyway and maybe c the doc again to ask her to take a look. I am going to try everything to help me get better.

What has your doc said about the chances of cancer?

If the blood is bright red, its not likely to be cancer - that is more likely to be hemmies/piles.

If you are still having problems pooping, you should call your doc.

I am having a colonoscopy soon. I am also having another blood test to see whats going on, but he was happy with my last scan. I was told cancer of the bowel is rare at my age and I shouldnt panic. I was told to have the second bloods, the scan and then the colonoscopy and go from there....

My scan looked normal. I am still having the runs and pains, but the scan was fine. I've got to wait til next Friday for the results. I got my letter about the camera up my backside and due to other people in real need of it, I will have to wait. May I ask would my doc think it a good idea to have it done right away or wait?? And what is the likelyhood of cancer in my age?!

I don't know what your doc would say, but you should call and talk to him about it, especially if the hospital sent you the letter.

Cancer at your age isn't likely at all.

How's your fiber intake? If its lacking, that might help get things back under control, but talk to your doc about whether or not he thinks you should increase fiber right now.

If you are having inflammation, fiber might be too much for you.

The reason I am having a camera is because I saw another doc before Xmas and he booked it. He wants me to have piece of mind. I have to call my doc next week to get results of scan, I will ask him what will be the next cause of action
