"Tea Tree Oil?????"

I have had herpes for 17 years. After my initial outbreak, I didn't have another episode for the next 10 years. I now have a episode about once every 2 years. Because of the infrequency, I'm not on any suppresive medication. Three days ago I had the first symptoms of another outbreak. Can anyone please tell me how effective tea tree oil is in healing a active infection quicker. Also, please tell me how to use it. Any info is greatly appreciated.

It's pretty good stuff for helping dry and heal an OB. The recommended way to use it is to wet a cotton ball, put a few drops of TTO on it and daub it on. Using it straight on a sore might be a bit much.

Thanks for the tip. I stopped by the whole food store yesterday and purchased some tea tree oil. I did however use it at full strength. Stung a little, but not much and only for a second. Hopefully this will help cut down on healing time.

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents: I love tea tree oil so much. I was on the verge of a bad OB right before graduation, and I had no Valtrex, so I used full-strength tea tree oil three times a day, and within 36 hours, the red blotches and itching had completely disappeared. I've started using it on ingrown hairs (I have awful folliculitis), mosquito bites, pimples, and any other skin irritation. It does smell a bit like paint thinner, but for all the benefits, I can overlook it.

Herpes and a variety of Candida (yeast / fungal) external infections (commonly called jock itch), are sometimes confused because of the similarity of their symptoms. A doctor can run a test to verify a condition. Tea Tree Oil is an anti-fungal, so if you are having great success with tea tree oil, you might want to have your condition tested by a doctor to verify your condition. I am not aware of any studies on humans that have confirmed that tea tree oil is effective against herpes, but it is widely confirmed as an anti-fungal.

I am a believer in essential oils. I use peppermint for headaches and sinus congestion, Thieves for sore throats and lavender to relax. I am finding out there are oils that can be used to alleviate all kinds of signs and symptoms.

A friend of mine has had success using essential oils from --------- to treat occasional outbreaks. She tells me that when she applies Frankincense to her blister it dries up and her symptoms or gone within hours!
