"point and click or out in the crowds shopping?"

I obviously have become a grumpy old woman but I really don't get why people would go out and shop with thousands of strangers and wait in line forever to check out!!!

did you go black friday shopping or did you stay home in pjs and point and click like I did?

love that most sites start their "black friday" deals monday or tuesday of the week online

Point and click. Not even tempted otherwise.

Well Grace I'm even a grumpier old lady! I just make about 60 pounds of peanut brittle and distribute to family and friends. BF and I are not shopping for each other this year--we had the cement work done in front of the garage and shop so that is our "gift" to each other this year. Haven't done major Christmas shopping in years. We got groceries at Walmart yesterday afternoon and I can honestly say there is nothing in that store that I truly need. We did get a DVD, Red 2 and it was hilarious--our entertainment last night. My Dad likes gift certificates to go out and eat, so that's what I do for him. The most important part of Christmas is going to church on Christmas Eve with my Dad and his wife. I'm so lucky to still have my Dad--he's 83 and doing okay.

I plan to do as much point and click as I can get away with. I don't give a damn about whether I "save" or not.

For last minute stuff I hit Walmart / Superstore after midnight with a list in hand.

If there is something very specific that I have to get somebody I'll brave the stores, but I just can't deal with the crowds.

Bah Humbug.

Be well,

Mrs. Rajah and I definitely don't do the Black Friday thing, but our daughters have made it a tradition for a number of years and, this year, some of the granddaughters did as well.

Even at other times than Black Friday, I'll point and click unless it's something that I need right away.

Amazon (Prime) is my very good friend.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-13 AT 08:36 AM (CST)

For many years I had Thur/Fri off so I had Thanksgiving and the day after off from work. The only thing I would buy is Reebok shoes for work as they would be on sale. Now that I have weekends off, I have not been able to get the day after off, but I did this year. The Saturday before I was at the counter at Macy's purchasing some kitchen items and noticed a rebate taped to the boxes. When asked, I was told the rebate would be for $10.00 off each of my three items totaling $90.00, but I would have to purchase on Black Friday starting at 8:00 pm Thanksgiving night. I did go back some time after 8:00 pm Thanksgiving night to get the items and the price was $60.00 instead of $90.00 and I still get the $30.00 in rebates, so yes, my visit was worth it as I was going to buy these items anyway.

I just could not believe the crowds that were out there. One woman in line behind me was talking to the man behind her saying that she was across the street at Target and had been in line since 1:00 pm for an 8:00 pm opening. What in the world was Target having that would cause someone to get in line for 7 plus hours on Thanksgiving? I know I did my small little part of being out there, but it really was not planned and I do not plan to make it a habit each year.

I am currently waiting for the amazon lightning deal on the dvd of "call the midwife" season 2 to go on sale at 1120....lol hate that I have to log on at an exact time to get certain stuff...ugh I have gotten some good buys and I always have enough on my wish list to round out the purchase for free shipping.

I would never camp out of days in front of a store or even wait for hours to get in. most of their sale items were on sale online days before then. there is nothing I need that bad and often it's worth a few extra bucks to just point and click. I'd much rather stuff my face with friends/family than go out and shop in those crowds!!

I hit a few stores last evening with my daughter while wasting time until her bus to go back to school came. stores were dead but at the same time, hardly anything on their shelves so glad I was just browsing and didn't go with a purpose!
