"Pickleball"

Does anyone play Pickleball? Our park district started a class yesterday and I went--what a challenge. By the end of an hour I was just starting to get the hang of it. We will meet weekly and I hope the extra exercise will help me--I keep gaining weight. Only 5 people showed up for the class, so we need to recruit more players. We also started a beginner's class for line dancing and had 12 people show up--so now I'm line dancing for two hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Have heard the name mentioned, but have no idea of what the game is like. Exercise is good....Motivation is hard. I do my cardiac rehab sustaining class 3 days a week, when I can make it there between other activities.

Pickleball is played at a lot of retirement villages. It is a blend between ping pong, tennis and badminton. It is played on a badminton court, with a plastic or wooden paddle (which is larger than a ping pong paddle) and with a whiffle ball. I'm just learning and getting the serve across the net--which is a tennis net is still a challenge. It was invented by a family and their dog was named Pickles and played with them so that's why it is called Pickleball. I just needed more exercise and we are playing inside and with others my age--thank goodness. I guess the high school kids are playing it in gym class--my step grandson knows how to play. Next lesson is Wednesday--an hour of chasing the out of bounds balls is good exercise!!
