We are having 16 here for Thanksgiving and I have a 20 pound turkey. This morning I set up the big table and dusted all the light fixtures--having company inspires me to up the cleaning level. So won't have many turkey leftovers, but have to cook again on Sunday as that is when his brother and sister-in-law will be here.

I am going to my niece's place Thursday. Lot's of peeps there so no turkey to take home.

I did cook a big turkey once that I used almost entirely for chili. I did set some aside for sandwiches, though. I am not that far 'round the bend.

I made cranberry sauce in the crock pot - it was yummy! http://www.cleverlysimple.com/slow-cooker-cranberry-sauce-recipe/#_a5y_p=2833951 the cinnamon was a little strong when fresh but now a few days later it's not as noticeable.

I also made a new sweet potato recipe and it's the bomb!! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/rhodas-candied-sweet-potatoes-kicked-up-recipe.html I swear the bourbon has nothing to do with my opinion of them either...he he he

so far I've had open faced hot turkey sandwiches with gravy and mashed taters and whole containers of leftovers!! I am a happy girl!! I even froze a lot of meals for later. TV dinner versions of turkey are pretty lacking so I prefer to make my own!

I didn't make any dessert though so looking forward to pumpkin pie tomorrow

Well Grace, you certainly know how to get the best use of a turkey. I'm looking forward to turkey soup later this week. Won't be much turkey left after we eat today, but I simmer the carcass and that always has plenty of meat for soup. Those recipes are sinfully full of sugar and fat--things I need to avoid, so I'll experience them vicariously through you!! I smell the turkey roasting and I'm getting hungry. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy that pumpkin pie!!

With our crew of 24 and two 13 pound birds, there wasn't a whole lot left. Will probably finish up the left-overs tomorrow.
