"Traveling in March"

Hey it's been quiet on this site for awhile now. Anyway, has anyone ever gone to Mesa, AZ for the Cubs Spring Training? We are heading there with the RV and I would appreciate any advice about places to see, stay, etc on the way and while we are there. Of course, we will go to the Grand Canyon, Sedona etc., but wondering if there are some nice out-of-way spots that aren't so well known. Thanks, Deb

I am not ignoring you. I don't know a thing about the subject in question.

In general the people I know who have gone to spring training have enjoyed themselves. Hope you folks do too.

Whenever I am traveling somewhere, my first step is to check diners, drive ins and dives to see if any place that has been on there is near where I am going. Obviously I have my priorities - food!!!

I can stow away in that rv right? Just me, my lap top and some suntan lotion

Oh Grace, it is a small RV so you'd really get to know me and BF--maybe too well!! Just one large king size bed. I know that the old Route 66 goes through Williams, AZ and plan to stop there. That is the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Now we have snow here and I'm wondering how it will be when we want to leave--looks like New Mexico and Texas had snow too. Mother Nature could change our plans a bit.

My sister and her hubby live in Surprise and my mom spends Winters out there, so we've made that drive a few times. If the weather looks dodgy, we take the Southern route instead of 66. You don't want to get caught in the Texas panhandle in a blizzard.

When you leaving? Will you be coming through our fair city?

Raj we haven't decided what route to take yet and we are hoping to get out of here around March 7th. Think bf wants to catch the March 11th game Cubs against Dodgers. Of course, it all depends on the weather here as we have snow on the ground again and more forecasted for tomorrow night and Sunday. Who knows what February will bring--sometimes blizzards! Just in from a morning of cutting, loading and stacking firewood--quite an adventure as we got stuck. So bf got to play with his John Deere tractor to pull the truck--the truck has 4WD, but it was icy underneath the snow. Anyway this old gal is headed for the basement in front of the wood burner and an afternoon in the recliner with my book!!
