"Life does go on"

hello everyone! it's been a long long time since I've visited here. I guess that can be attributed to my success story. Guys and Gals, your life will get back to normal. I was diagnosed back in '99 (wow 11 years) and I can say that my life is as normal as the next guy. I'm married with two beautiful children and have a very healthy and active marriage. Sex is the same as it was before catching this little bugger. I do need to say that my wife is also positive, which she caught from me, but it hasn't stopped us from anything. We both take suppressive meds and they work great. I take acyclovir and she takes Valtrex.

When I was first diagnosed, I my world had turned black. I had all the questions that you are having now. And to answer them all, yes, you will have a normal life again. Just hang in there and stay positive. There are far worse things out there that can happen to each one of us at any given time.

Will

Will, sorry no one responded to your thread before today! Thanks a lot for posting. It's always nice when someone can share their experience of doing well. I'm glad things are so much better for you now.

Back when I first got this virus, there was some sort of medical thing on the TV about HSVII. This one woman on the show mentioned that she has had this virus for 10 years. TEN YEARS! ! ! ! --I could not imagine having this virus for that long at the time. Now 20 plus, plus, plus years later, I still have this virus and life is great.

I am glad things are working out so well for you.

Will - May I ask how long you were with your wife before she caught it? Were you using condoms some or none of the time? Too bad she got it I suppose, but oh how I envy seroconcordants!

Happy for you. Hope to find an understanding partner as well. I am quite frustrated now because I was just diagnosed and my ob are coming one after the other and nothing seems to be working.

Very true, because life is not the matter of milestones, but of moments.
