"Positive vaccine development"

Australian Nobel Prize for chemistry winner Prof. Ian Fraser is developing a vaccine for the herpes simplex 2 virus which can also be used for treatment purposes.

Company on the vaccine:
"HSV-2 is the major causative agent of genital herpes. This disease does not just cause discomfort to infected individuals but can have serious health implications for babies born to infected women and is believed to aid the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Current HSV treatment involves the use of antiviral drugs which can reduce, but not eliminate, outbreaks and shedding and therefore does not prevent spread of the disease. Coridon is currently in the pre-clinical phase of evaluating a combined prophylactic and therapeutic HSV-2 vaccine with a view to commencing a clinical studies in 2012."

The Australian company Allied Healthcare Group (AHZ) is the company name and they are looking like they may take off in the near future. Worth looking into and supporting any way we can. Sending out all my thanks and wishing Ian Fraser and his team Godspeed.

If anyone has any info on how things are progressing with the trials I'd love to hear it.

This looks like pretty awesome news, and quite promising. Though, I have not found much else on updates other than one site stating that Phase I testing may not start until next year. Would be nice to see a site that kept their stuff up to date for everyone!
