"good article summarizing the state of herpes vaccines"

http://seekingalpha.com/article/1066731-glaxo-s-genital-herpes-vaccine-flops-but-genocea-s-next-generation-approach-makes-it-a-buy?source=yahoo

Mentions Genocea, Agenus, Vical, Sanofi Pasteur, Amgen purchase of BioVex...

And interesting fact, Glaxo invested $100 million to study HerpeVac.

that there's not a herpes vaccine on the market yet.

Can you break this down in simple terms as to what this article is trying to state. If these vaccines work they way the researchers are hoping for, then would this mean that eventhough we would still have the virus, would we still be contagious and have outbreaks?

The article is not scientific. It is actually with respect to investment oppotunities so it is just simply stating that these companies are researching ways to control the virus ans where they are in the process.

No drug being researched will eliminate the virus from our bodies. Plus, I don't believe any of them realistically aim to eliminate viral shedding. It's dangerous to make absolute claims. So the target is to significantly reduce obs and minimize transmission risk...the degree to which is unknown So, yes, I would expect obs and to be contagious, but if they are successful, not as often.

I thought I would follow-up on this post with an article that describes, a bit more technically, the state of HSV vaccines, why they've failed and what's on the horizon.
