Hi, I wrote before to say I thought I had oral herpes. Rajah was kind enough to respond to me. I've since been tested withy the igg test, and it came back negative for both hsv 1 and 2. However, it was 4.5 weeks after the possible date of infection, so I am going to get retested.
In the meantime, I'm not sure how to diagnose the symptoms--please help.
1) The first two weeks or so, I had the visible outbreak on the side of my lip-- two small but visible cold sores. Not clustered together though . After two weeks, you had to really look for it to notice it. After that, I experienced the skin shedding, and then it went away.
Since then, I've gotten our itchy and burning sensations around and or on the same places where I got those sores before. I can feel bumps forming under the skin, but I put raw honey on them, and I've been taking the vitamin lysine, and they generally go away within a few hours. But then, I get more of them, again within a few hours of the other ones disappearing. It's been going on like this for weeks. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed to stop, all of it.. And then it started again last week.
2) Three weeks ago, I asked my doctor to prescribe me Valtex by leaving a message with his nurse. I tried talking to him but we miss each other a couple of times, so he just prescribed me the Valtrex without me speaking to him directly. But it's not doing anything. I've taken 2 mg twice a day for almost a week now, in addition to the lysine and honey, and I'm still getting these itchy, Burning bumps under my skin that don't erupt and that are invisible. I don't know if the honey and lysine are so effective that these bumps don't break out, or is this just means I don't actually have oral herpes.
The symptoms are driving me crazy. Last night, it was terrible, and I couldn't sleep at all. But again, there's nothing visible on the skin. I am going to get myself retested this upcoming week. I was last tested five weeks ago. But then again, maybe I should just wait the full 12 weeks. It will be 10 weeks since the time of possible infection.
I'm also going to go back to the doctor, but the difficulty is that the bumps come and go so fast that I may not have any at the time that I visit him, and my doctor already thinks I'm overreacting and should just be happy all my tests came back negative the first time.
Any thoughts? I am truly confused and just want to know what's what so that I keep myself and others as safe as possible. Thank you for any help you can provide.
