"Anti viral meds don't work/tested positive 8 yrs ago/12-15 OB a year"

I just don't know what to do. When I met my husband (then BF) he told me he has herpes, had it for a long time, seldom has outbreaks and has never given it to anyone. Within 2 months I got it. He never had an outbreak. I went to the doctor and it was diagnosed. That doctor GYN left shortly after that and I have never discussed it again.

My first 2 years I had 22-24 OB each year. Was getting them in the same spot then they moved to just outside my vagina and I am down to 12-15 OB per year. My husband gets me Valtrex 500mg wasn't working so we increased it to 1gr. I don't feel like it does anything.

Sometimes I feel like it shortens the OB but then I seem to get another one right away and it tends to be lots of sores and super painful (almost like it is making up for the recent mild outbreak). I just don't know what to do. Is someone that specializes in this? I am just so frustrated. My husband feels awful, I feel awful. I just don't know where to turn. We live in the Boston area

Thanks

A good dermatologist or an infectious disease doc, might be more attuned to herpes related treatment. The doctors I recommended in the PM are on the West coast.

Thank you.....where do I find your PM? I can't seem to find it.

We would be willing to travel. I am just so sick of feeling like this and just want to find something that works. Thanks again.

When you log in, there is a link to "User Menu". Click on that and select "inbox". Your PMs are there.

A question that I didn't ask at first is whether you have had swab test done when you are having symptoms to verify that it's really herpes and not something else.

Yes I did 8 years ago. I have no doubt that all these are OB's. Nerve pain, throbbing and burning, then sore/blister or blisters. I have very few mild OB and if I do have a mild OB it will be followed by a severe OB. Otherwise the majority of my OB's are moderate. I think the Valtrex may take the edge off the symptoms. I was diagnosed May 9, 2008 and I'm just so distraught over this......as of this July 4th I have already had 8 OB's. I take 1gr (1000mg) of Valtrex daily and when I feel an OB coming on I take 2x per day for 10 days. I just feel like why me.

P>S I got your PM Thank you very much
