"Question regarding shedding."

I've read over and over all the information regarding HSV2 genital and shedding... The more I read on this virus the more confusing it is.

I've also been told that it doesn't matter, one is contagious once you have this diseases and it doesn't lessen how contagious you are through-out the years.

Well I believe I've had it for YEARS and never knew. I only know for sure because I developed two blisters on my hip once but brushed it off to perhaps getting bit by a bug or something. No one has ever told me I've given them something or they had OB's. Had a baby delivered vaginally w/ some tearing and while recovering, I had mild symptoms of what could have been a mild OB but nothing triggered me to think I had HSV.

My questions is... Its been said that you shed MORE during the first 6 months to 2 years you've been diagnosed w/ having this disease but is that first year you've had your full blown OB or the first year it was transmitted? I found out I had it full blown after shaving (which irritated it more) and rough friction sex w/ a condom which brought it out even more. I had the full flu symptoms and everything.

To this day I'm still trying to figure out (my next questions) why I never had a full flu symptoms when I knew I had this for years even after having a healthy baby.

Not everyone gets the flu-like symptoms. Most people don't get them and most people don't get symptoms at all.

Since you aren't shedding the virus 24/7, but what amounts to about 2 weeks of random days/year, it's pretty easy not to transmit the virus to someone else.

You shed more frequently right after you get the virus, but you still shed years later.

You won't transmit the virus to your baby during the birth process if you aren't having an outbreak during labor.

Nothing you're experiencing is really unusual.

Okay so that means if I'm involved w/ a negative partner and I'm on Meds and don't have sex w/ an OB present (I haven't had a bad one in months) but occasionally don't use a condom which I believe is a 2% change of transmitting it through-out the years, I won't have to go stir crazy about whether or not he'll catch it and get sick within that 2-25 day window period??

We don't have sex like that probably one every month since it's long distance.
